TESTIMONIALS

“Dr. Mishra’s efforts, in addition to strengthening our work to answer some of the most fundamental questions in physics, have made considerable contribution to this pillar of our relationship with India.” Robert Blake, US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, May 2010

“Annex I to the Department of Energy/ Department of Atomic Energy Implementing Agreement was approved by both parties over the last 12 months. This was a major achievement that Shekhar has been working towards for many years. It is fair to say that this never would have happened without Shekhar's investment of time and effort over the last decade.” Steve Holmes, Associate Director, Fermilab, 2015

“Mishra innovated an India Institutions and Fermilab Collaboration for indigenous development High Intensity Superconducting Proton Accelerator that is enabling India leapfrog technology development to achieve energy independence, It is one of the best “Win-Win” scientific collaboration for the two largest democracies of the world.” Dr. Anil Kakodkar, Chairman, Atomic Energy Commission of India, 2013

“Your outstanding achievement in the field of Science and in recognition of your valuable contribution in promoting the honour and prestige of India and in fostering the interest of Overseas Indians”. Ram Nath Kovind, President of India, 2019

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS A A SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY EXPERT
· Established the US-India strategic partnership as part of the superconducting radio frequency (SRF) accelerator development for a range of applications, including energy, medicine, environment, and particle physics
· Led the growth of Fermilab as a world leader in SRF technology
· Facilitated an international strategic partnership with India and the US Department of Energy
· Engaged extensively with the President of India, the chairs of the Indian Atomic Energy Commission and the Director of the Office Science, the US Department of Energy and Assistant US Secretary of State and their Indian counterparts.
· Held a key role on the working group on basic science collaboration between US and India, chaired by the US Presidential Science Advisor
· Led the achievement of a groundbreaking agreement between the US Department of Energy and the Indian Department of Atomic Energy to contribute to projects at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory
· The agreement resulted in the ability of the US high technology industries to sell hardware to India while protecting US intellectual property
· India has acquired the capabilities to build a proton accelerator as part of the peaceful use of nuclear energy and the achievement of energy independence, due to the dedicated efforts.
· Directed management of partnership between international laboratories in the United States, Japan, Germany, Italy, UK, and China.
· Member of the team which discovered the top quark, the sixth fundamental particle of nature as well as many first measurements including the hyper-nuclei, eta-nuclei interaction, and bottom quark.
· Identified and implemented robust risk management frameworks as well as ensuring that regulatory requirements were fully embedded withing the Fermilab accelerator program.
